Compete.com Faces Legal Issues

The start of the second quarter of 2010 will be a tough stage for Compete.com as the renowned law firm Ledger & Associates considered a lawsuit against the web analytics company.

In a recent statement of Ledger & Associates, they are urging the previous clients of Compete.com who have been denied of refunds, to work with them on a contingency against Compete.com.

The claim is that Compete.com allegedly made a representation of services that they did not properly deliver, and when unhappy customers of them demanded for refunds, the refund requests were denied based on Compete.com’s “corporate policy”.

As of this writing, no word of retaliation has been heard from Compete.com, who will surely be obliged to seek legal defenses to address the issue they are currently facing.

Compete.com is an online analytics site under Kantar Media Company, its services are being equally paralleled to that of Alexa.com and Quantcast.com.

KeywordSpy Launches New Packages: Agency and Enterprise

KeywordSpy.com takes pricing to a different level by launching two new corporate-targeted packages called KeywordSpy Agency and Enterprise. Both packages have features of their own to showcase.

The KeywordSpy Agency is like a robust version of KeywordSpy Professional, wherein it provides bigger number of data exports and multiple log-ins in one account. I assume this will be composed of various user names or addresses that can log-in at the same time in Keyword Spy platform and will be associated in just one sign-up account.

Aside from the fact that the Agency package is a top-up version of the KeywordSpy Professional, other descriptions given by KeywordSpy for the Agency package are as follows:

*450,000 exports per day

*30,000 search queries per day

*3000 keywords that can be stored and monitored in Tracking Module

*Research in over 30 countries

*high priority customer service

The introductory price for the KeywordSpy Agency package is $995.00/mo. I know, it's quite steep for regular individual marketers, so I guess it will really cater to big companies and agencies requiring multiple access to KeywordSpy reports and who are needing expanded data extraction quota.

On the other corner, KeywordSpy Enterprise is like the "custom package" of KeywordSpy, so it will be more on commanding KeywordSpy what search advertising data you want and they will try to deliver it to you. According them, tell them what you need and they will contact you via phone or e-mail to discuss if what you want is feasible, as well as the development schedule and ETA for the custom applications.

I had a live chat with KeywordSpy sales reps and they gave me a link to their Enterprise enquiry form asking me to put into paper my requirements to their tailor-made package. (Of course, I cannot afford yet this Enterprise thing, which pricing starts at $6000.00 per month! So I also have to get feedback from other companies who will avail the KeywordSpy Enterprise).
But what got me excited is the availability of the KeywordSpy API in their Enterprise package! I'm sure it will be nice to incorporate KeywordSpy reports in any pre-existing database.

But in my own opinion, some of KeywordSpy's lower price points may already provide good value depending on what you might use them for:

Research package - 89.95/mo (use for keyword research and competitor spying)

Tracking package - 89.95/mo (use for keyword monitoring and performance tracking)

Professional package - 139.95/mo (combination of Research and Tracking package)

There is this another new package called KeywordSpy "Custom Reports" but I guess I will do the review on that one in another post, since I'm not yet through on my research on these new packages. I will keep you posted once I finalize all my reviews and research on KeywordSpy, so stay tuned!

Apple Allegedly Leaked iPhone 4G to Spoil the Release of Droid Incredible?

Lots of ongoing speculations claim that Apple allegedly leaked the upcoming iPhone 4G to spoil the release of the Droid Incredible.

While there are also evidences that the leak is a genuine and an unintentional accident, no one can contest that the two mobile phone models will soon be hailed as competitors.

The iPhone 4G is scheduled to be released until July, and for sure those who have the 3G or 3GS versions will create buzz on acquiring the 4G, while those who fell in love with the Android OS will surely clamor for the Droid Incredible.

Let me give you a list of short comparison of what is currently known about the two phones:

iPhone 4G

*new interface will allow folder creation on home screen and app multitasking

*full access to about 185,000 apps in the App Store

* the 1GHz A4 processor in the new iPad could have made its way into the iPhone 4G

*screen is "slightly smaller" than the 3.5 inch 3GS screen

*much higher resolution than on a 3GS," speculating it could even have a 960x640 resolution

*with front facing camera

*battery is 20 percent larger than previous models (6 hours of talk or Internet use over a 3G connection)

*has a micro-SIM card slot (exclusive for AT&T; cannot run on Verizon)

Droid Incredible

*Will be running a special interface over the Android OS called HTC Sense

*access to over 50,000 apps (will gradually increase through time)

*has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor (faster than iPhone 3GS)

*3.7-inch screen

* uses the same display as the Nexus One (480x800 resolution)

*8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash

*5 hours of talk or Internet use over a 3G connection)

Okay, this is just a mini-review for now, until Apple reveals the full details for the iPhone 4G, including the price which will definitely play as one of the most considered factors of future mobile phone consumers.

Let's just wait and see on where will the Apple and Google battle will lead us. :-)
